NSW Fellow Forum 2022

Building networks and learning from peers and cancer research mentors was the focus of this years' event.

The 2022 Forum welcomed many new early-career fellows together with established cancer researchers.

The program featured a keynote address from Professor Anna Defazio, Director of the Center for Cancer Research at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research and Honorary head of the Gynaecological Oncology Research group at Westmead Hospital.

During the session we had an interactive Q&A panel discussion with previous fellowship holders: Dr Orazio Vittorio, Dr Zaklina Kovacevic and Dr Andrew Care, where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and listen to candid career experiences and advice.

The program also included presentations from Associate Professor Matt Dun, highlighting the importance of Mentorship in a Research Career and Mark Smith who spoke about grant opportunities and application strategies.

Fellows had an opportunity to present their Elevator Pitch, where they had just one minute to give a short but compelling description on their current program of research and its significance. Presented in small groups, fellows had the chance to participate in feedback discussions.

Afterwards, attendees engaged in networking and caught up with their peers and cancer research mentors.
