The 2023 NSW Premier’s Awards for Outstanding Cancer Research honour the achievements of individuals and teams working across the cancer research sector.
The awards celebrate excellence and innovation in cancer research and recognise the outstanding achievements across the cancer research sector – from academic research to improving cancer clinical outcomes across NSW.
Hosted by Professor Tracey O’Brien, Chief Cancer Officer and CEO Cancer Institute NSW, the 2023 Award Ceremony was held at The Fullerton Hotel Sydney at 7:30am on Monday 13 November.
New awards were announced that celebrate progress and achievement aligned with the goals and principles of the NSW Cancer Plan.
Award winners
The following awards were presented to those working in the cancer research space with the shared goal of improving cancer prevention, treatment and care for all people in NSW:

Rebecca Simpson - Winner of the Outstanding Cancer Clinical Trials Unit Award
Wollongong Hospital - Winner of the Improving Equitable Outcomes through Cancer Research Award
