BreastScreen artwork project

In November 2015 the Cancer Institute NSW invited women from the Arabic and Chinese communities in Sydney to participate to share their experiences with breast screening through art.

In NSW, approximately 10,000 women from the Arabic community and 15,000 women from the Chinese community do not have their two-yearly mammogram with BreastScreen NSW.

Even though they are within the target age group (50–74 years old) for breast screening.

The resulting artwork represents the beauty of life and good health, with a particular focus on inspiring women to have regular breast screening.

The artwork has become an important resource for the BreastScreen NSW program, touring community spaces to encourage conversation about the importance of breast cancer screening.
